Come Get It! had a title that drew you in and lyrics and beats that kept you playing this album from to the present. Rick James was super serious about being a superstar and a musician to be reckoned with as evidenced by the contents of this album. I would say the only drawback of this album was that tracks 1 and 8 ("Stone City Band, Hi /5(50).

In , James and the Stone City Band signed a contract with Motown's Gordy Records imprint, where they began recording their first album in New York City. In April , James released his debut solo album, Come Get It!, which included the Stone City Band. The album launched the top 20 hit, "You and I", which became his first number-one R&B hit.

Rick James is massively throwing down on this classic set – tight, right, and on the money all the way through – in that trademark groove that so many others would try to cop, but never get this right! The album bristles with energy right from the start – lots of bass at the bottom of the grooves, riffing guitar in the middle, and those badass vocals of James ' that mange to sound nasty.
